Debate over which branch of state government should oversee the problematic Probation Department dominated a forum presented by the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Service at Suffolk University Law School.

The policy discussion focused on the future of the nation’s first and oldest probation agency and featuring panelists Mary Beth Heffernan, Massachusetts Secretary of Public Safety; Sen. Cynthia Stone Creem (D-Newton), Probation Reform Working Group; John Larivee, CEO of Community Resources for Justice; and the Hon. Robert Mulligan, Chief Justice for Administration and Management.

The discussion was co-sponsored by CommonWealth Magazine, which published a news story on the forum, and the Massachusetts Bar Association.
