The Beacon Hill Institute participates in the annual Job Shadow Day sponsored by the Boston Private Industry Council and the Boston Public Schools to provide an opportunity for high school students who are considering career choices to learn about professional life.

This year, Breana Mullins and Daedre Bolton, seniors from Charlestown High School, shadowed Frank Conte, director of communications for the Beacon Hill Institute. The students learned about the institute's work and how it's disseminated to policy makers, opinion leaders and the media. Both are exploring careers in marketing.

"Each year, Job Shadow Day provides a great opportunity to meet Boston public school students like Breana and Daedre who share a boundless enthusiasm about the real world of work," says Conte. "During their visit to the institute, I tried to stress the importance of keeping pace with the light-speed changes in technologies that will most likely alter most careers. At the same time I learned about their aspirations."

The Beacon Hill Institute has hosted Boston Public School students on Job Shadow Day since 1999.
