Jake Cintolo has been named to the D3Baseball.com 2014 Preseason All-American team as a first baseman.

Cintolo enters his senior season with 206 career hits, just 17 shy of the all-time Suffolk baseball mark of 223 set by Mike Maguire in 2005 and 33 away from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) mark of 239 set by Alex Hurley ’07 of Johnson & Wales University.

Last season Cintolo earned his third consecutive New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Region selection for New England. During the 2013 campaign he hit .398 (68-for-171) with a team-high 44 runs scored. He drove in 37 runs on 20 extra-base hits. Cintolo also set the all-time Suffolk and GNAC single-season record with 18 doubles.

Cintolo has recorded at least 60 hits in each of his three seasons with the Rams. He set the all-time Suffolk single-season record as a freshman with 77 hits.

Cintolo also has been a three-time GNAC All-Conference selection and was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America for the 2013 season.

Last summer Cintolo was named an all-star in the Valley Baseball League, an NCAA-affiliated collegiate summer wood-bat league in Virginia. He hit .288 in 37 games with six doubles for the Winchester Royals.

Cintolo was one of seven New England players named to the website’s preseason team for this upcoming season. He was a second-team selection.

The Rams’ opens its 2014 spring season March 7 against Gwynedd Mercy University at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.
