The Communication and Journalism Department honored two alumni during its 13th annual reception and awards ceremony.

Christopher Hill, president & chief executive officer of CheapToday, an online shopping network, was named the Suffolk University Communication and Journalism 2010 Alumnus of the Year.

David D’Arcangelo, a public affairs professional and political activist, received the Suffolk University Communication and Journalism 2010 Louis B. Connelly Young Alumnus Award.

“I'm honored to receive the Alumnus of the Year Award,” said Hill. “Being part of the Suffolk community has been a very positive experience in my life and for my career.”

Hill, an Internet entrepreneur who has established and grown digital media companies within fast-growth industries, is a 1987 graduate of the University. He recently returned as a senior lecturer in the Communication and Journalism Department, teaching marketing, advertising, and entrepreneurial studies.

The Young Alumnus Award honors a graduate who demonstrates exceptional promise in his or her profession. It is named in memory of Lou Connelly, the longtime director of public affairs and sports information at the University.

“I am honored to receive this wonderful award and to be mentioned alongside the great Lou Connelly,” said D’Arcangelo. “Lou meant so much to me and it feels good to know that others recognize our sincerity and dedication to public affairs and the field of communication and journalism.”

D’Arcangelo, a 1996 graduate, is the managing director of Arc Angel Communications. The company specializes in public relations, marketing communications, and public affairs.
