New England Patriots cheerleader and Suffolk graduate Tanya Croteau spent two weeks visiting troops overseas as part of an Operations Seasons Greetings tour that included five other Patriots cheerleaders and several musical artists.
“Wherever we went, there were troops lined up for miles and miles,” said Croteau, 26, who earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School and works as an office manager for a financial advising in Danvers, Mass. “It was a great feeling to boost their morale and give them something to look forward to.”
Croteau and her teammates performed dance routines, signed autographs, and posed for pictures with troops stationed in Afghanistan, Germany, Iraq and Turkey.
“A lot of the soldiers were Patriots’ fans, and they wanted to know how the team was doing,” said Croteau, now in her second year as a Pats’ cheerleader. “We shook everyone’s hand and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in the chow hall with all of these brave men and women.”
Croteau and her cheerleading teammates are involved in many promotional and charitable events. She also teaches hip-hop and has volunteered her time over the years for the Special Olympics, Red Auerbach Youth Foundation, Walk for Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. .
She aims to further her professional career by obtaining an MBA at Suffolk University.
