The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team claimed a 60-53 victory over visiting Johnson and Wales Thursday night at Suffolk's Regan Gymnasium.

Stephanie Zito (Guilford, CT) led the charge for the Rams with 17 points on 7-12 shooting (3-5 3pt. FG). JWU's Alexia Ramirez led all scorers in the game with 21 points on 10-14 shooting.

Suffolk led 56-50 after a big Zito three with 1:58 remaining. However, Alexandra Ventura answered with a three to cut the Suffolk lead to 56-53 with 1:28 remaining. Ventura finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

After a Samantha Cowens block and rebound off a Zito attempt, JWU had an oppurtunity to cut the slim deficit. However, Suffolk's pressure defense stepped up, forcing a turnover with 49 seconds to go. JWU committed 31 turnovers in the game.

Suffolk's Katlyn Kletcha (Fairfield, CT) and Stephanie Morrissey (Abington, MA) stepped up with two free-throws each to ice the game for Suffolk. Kletcha finished with 12 points and Morrissey scored five.

Suffolk trailed 48-42 with under ten minutes to go, but outscored JWU 11-0 over the next seven minutes to take a 53-48 lead with 2:58 remaining. JWU was 0-7 from the field during the stretch.
