Suffolk faculty and experts from state government will present new legislative staff with the information and resources they need to effectively carry out their responsibilities in the General Court during a Feb. 14, 2007, training program presented by the John Joseph Moakley Archive and Institute at Suffolk University and the Sawyer Business School’s Center for Public Management.
Senate President Robert Travaglini and House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi will address the trainees, speaking on "The Importance of Good Public Service.
Topics to be addressed include: the legislating process, dealing with the media, ethics, navigating state government, and the state budget process.
The Center for Public Management is in Suffolk University’s Business School, which offers a master's program in Public Administration.
The late Congressman Joe Moakley was an alumnus of Suffolk University Law School. His staff was distinguished for its ability to resolve issues among both constituents and colleagues. As part of its effort to preserve the late congressman’s legacy, the Moakley Archive and Institute promotes public service and leadership through programs such as this training program for legislative staff.
