William T. Hogan III, JD '81 -- Massachusetts Gov. Deval L. Patrick has appointed William T. Hogan III,a managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP's Boston office, to a term on the state's Judicial Nominating Commission. The commission vets all candidates and advises the Governor on appointments of judges to the Supreme Judicial Court, the Appeals Court, and the Trial Court departments, including clerk magistrates and recorder of the Land Court.

Mr. Hogan is an experienced litigator with wide-ranging experience in the United States District Court, as well as the Superior Court and District Courts in Massachusetts. He has been in private practice since 1985. He is a former outside counsel to Congressman Martin Meehan during the Clinton impeachment hearings before the House Judiciary Committee. Mr. Hogan has served on the transition teams of two Treasurers of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

While serving as a former assistant district attorney in Suffolk County, he prosecuted numerous jury and bench trials. He is also a former Training Coordinator for the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Suffolk University and is a board member of the Westfield State College Foundation. He has received the Outstanding Alumni Service Award from the Suffolk University Law School Alumni Association.

Mr. Hogan earned a Juris Doctor in 1981 from the Suffolk University Law School. He earned an undergraduate degree, cum laude, in 1977 from Westfield State College.
