The honorees and their awards are as follows:
Alumni Service Awards
Professor Karen Blum, a member of the Suffolk Law School faculty for more than 40 years and a former associate dean of community and external affairs at Suffolk Law, received a juris doctor degree from the Law School in 1974.
Darren Donovan, who serves on the College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board, is a principal at KPMG LLP in Boston. He received a bachelor of science degree from the University in 1983.
Edward Terino serves on the advisory board of the Center for Innovation and Change Leadership at the University’s Sawyer Business School, which was founded with his financial support. He also endowed the Terino Family Fund in 2010. Terino, president of Get Advisory Services LLC in Windham, received an MBA from Suffolk in 1984. His daughter, Kristine, received a BSBA degree from the University in 2005.
Alumni Achievement Awards
Boston Police Commissioner William Evans was honored for his professional accomplishments and service in the Boston Police Department. Evans received a bachelor of science degree from Suffolk University in 1982.
Thomas J. Leetch, Jr., president and chief operating officer of Peoples Federal Savings Bank, was honored for his longtime contributions to the University community. He received a BSBA degree from Suffolk University in 1970.
The Hon. Paul Suttell, Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court, was honored for his longtime contributions to the Law School community. He received a juris doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1976.
Alumni Summa Award
Howard Kahalas is a principal of the law office of Howard M. Kahalas, P.C. He and his wife, Judith, established a scholarship for students who are historically underrepresented in law school education. Kahalas received a juris doctor degree from the Law School in 1972.
James Salini, a senior staff accountant at MIT, was honored for 30 years of generous financial support of Suffolk University and its Sawyer Business School. Salini received a BSBA degree from the University in 1974.
Garvin Tate was honored for his longtime contributions to the Suffolk University community. He established the University’s Garvin Tate Endowed Scholarship for philosophy students. Tate received a bachelor of science degree from Suffolk University in 1968.
Gold Alumni Award
Jonathan Trotta, an associate with Stinson Leonard Street LLP in Washington, D.C., was honored for his active participation in the Law School community. Trotta is president of the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Suffolk Law School Alumni Association. He received his juris doctor degree in 2007.
