Suffolk's men's tennis team defeated Albertus Magnus and Wentworth last week to move to 5-1 overall this season. The Rams are 2-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference race with just two conference matches remaining. Suffolk plays at Emerson on Saturday and then hosts Norwich on April 21 to determine the top four teams to qualify for the GNAC post-season tournament.

The GNAC tournament winner advances to the NCAA Division III post-season tournament. Suffolk reached the GNAC semifinals last year as the 3rd seed, losing to top seeded WNEC.

Suffolk beat Wentworth this week, 5-4, behind splitting the six singles with Wentworth, but taking two doubles for the win. Sophomore Greg Garrison won his No. 6 singles match in three sets, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, to give Suffolk the win.

Against Albertus Magnus, the Rams won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches. Rodions Podgorbunskihs and Garrett Freeman each won in three sets and Chris Delisi, Garrison and Frank Reilly added two set singles wins.

The Rams travel to UMass Boston on Thursday for a match at 3 p.m. followed by Saturday's match at Emerson at 6 p.m.

The GNAC semfinals are scheduled for Thursday, April 26 with the Finals set for Saturday, April 28.
