SOMERVILLE, Mass.-- Senior Marco D’Andrea (Belmont, Mass.) netted a hat trick as Suffolk opened its 2007 season with a 5-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Eastern Nazarene Saturday evening at Dillboy Stadium.

D’Andrea gave the host Rams (1-0) the only tally they would need by converting a direct kick in the 35th minute of action, and he completed his hat trick with a pair of markers in the 51st and 63rd minutes of play, respectively, to stake Suffolk to a 3-0 advantage. Sophomore Frank Serret (Boxford, Mass.) and freshman Kwame Cobblah (Maynard, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the hosts with goals in the 73rd and 78th minutes, respectively, as sophomore Peter Missouri (Moss, Norway) and freshman Steve Figueira (Winthrop, Mass.) each notched a pair of assists for the winners as well.

Freshman Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) made one save to record his first collegiate victory and shutout in goal for Suffolk, while freshman Andrew Trice (Quincy, Mass.) made five stops in net for the visiting Crusaders (0-4) as the Rams outshot Eastern Nazarene by an 18-2 margin for the match.

Suffolk hosts UMass Boston in a non-league outing on Tuesday afternoon at Dillboy Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Eastern Nazarene heads to Newport, R.I. for a Commonwealth Coast Conference match with Salve Regina that begins at 4:00 p.m.
