Women in Leadership Network
Women in Leadership Committee
The WIL Committee meets regularly to plan and execute events. Responsibilities include contributing to the overall strategic programming plan; attending meetings; serving on ad hoc committees; promoting and participating in WIL and other Suffolk events; and supporting Suffolk's fundraising goals. Committee members are the most involved in steering WIL and ensuring our programs fulfill our mission of advocating for the professional and personal development of Suffolk women. Committee membership lasts one year, generally running from June to June of the following year.
Goals
WIL aims:
- to connect Suffolk women, both alumnae and students, to the larger Suffolk community
- to ensure Suffolk alumnae feel invested in current students' success by fostering relationships between these groups
- to present programming for Suffolk alumnae and students that promotes their personal and/or professional development
Signature Programming
Fall Student-Based Programming
Since fall 2014, WIL has hosted professional development events for Suffolk students, primarily staffed by alumnae volunteers. Events have included the Professional Success Expo, which covered career development topics such as mentoring, internships and offered speed interviews and resume reviews. We also hosted EmpowHER, an event for the discussion of professional development through the unique lens of the female experience.
Spring Alumni-Based Programming
Since spring 2015, WIL has hosted events, like "Uncorked: An Evening of Storytelling and Wine Tasting" that featured noted Suffolk University alumnae sharing their stories. We also hosted "Stir it Up! Connection Building and Cocktail Tasting" with alumna, career/life coach, and entrepreneur Susan Drevitch Kelly.
