Rising To The Challenge

Emily's Suffolk Story

Emily's Suffolk Story

I was in a dead-end major at another college and needed more of a challenge. I found the Applied Legal Studies program at Suffolk University and it called my name. I applied for it as a transfer student and crossed my fingers for a "yes."

When I was accepted, I was so scared at first. So many changes: new school, commuting, not living on campus, as well as a new major! Suffolk had an amazingly friendly atmosphere, and I instantly knew within the first week that I made the right choice.

I was deeply involved with the Suffolk University Paralegal Association, involvement that was pivotal in my years at Suffolk and helped me make lasting friendships. As my senior year was winding down, I knew I was not ready to leave the ‘Ramily’ yet. I applied for the Crime & Justice Studies master’s program and set upon a new adventure at Suffolk.

Graduating and leaving my second home behind was hard, but Suffolk never really left me. My first two full-time jobs out of college were due to Suffolk alumni connections! I was so lucky to have other supportive alumni wanting to see others succeed. Those two jobs granted me the experience I needed to develop into the paralegal I am today. I began a new job this past July, and my colleagues are impressed with my skills and ability to work hard toward common goals. I attribute who I am as a professional today to the culture, staff, and students at Suffolk who pushed me to be the best. Thank you, Suffolk, for so much!
