National Best

Students Sam Delong, Dominic Litz and Anna Palka had a big win with their national moot court brief

Suffolk Law’s Tax Moot Court Team won the Best Overall Brief award at the National Tax Moot Court Competition in St. Petersburg, Fla. Each year the tax section of the Florida Bar hosts law schools from across the country in a simulation of an appeal of a trial court decision. Students research a problem, write an appellate brief, and present oral arguments before panels of judges.

This year, Suffolk University Law School sent 2L Sam Delong and 3Ls Dominic Litz and Anna Palka 3L, all first time moot court participants. The team’s brief bested 11 other law schools from around the country.

On day two of the oral arguments the team advanced to the quarter-finals where they lost a close decision. Professor William Corbett coaches the Suffolk Law Tax Moot Court Team. This year he was assisted by Professor Anthony Polito. 3L Patrick Mullaney served as a student mentor.
