Jon Lapolla has a signed with the Olean Oilers of the New York Collegiate Baseball League for the 2015 summer season.
The Olean Oilers began as a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Brooklyn Dodgers, the St. Louis Browns and the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2012 the team was reinvented as a collegiate development team with the Major League Baseball-affiliated New York Collegiate Baseball League. The Oilers will play a 46-game schedule in the wood-bat summer collegiate league.
Lapolla, Class of 2016, was named a Great Northeast Athletic Conference third team selection at catcher. He led Suffolk with a .291 batting average and .455 slugging percentage. He tore through GNAC pitching during the season, hitting at a .472 clip in conference play. Lapolla's .429 on-base percentage led Suffolk baseball this past season, and he ranks third among GNAC players. He has walked 23 times on the year to go along with a team-high 10 doubles, a triple and a home run.
