University Appoints New Chief Information Officer

Tom Lynch, III, has been appointed as the University's chief information officer, effective June 10.

Lynch will guide the University as it develops a comprehensive information environment that supports the strategic plan and enhances teaching, learning, research and administrative activities.

Most recently Lynch has been president of startITup!, an information technology management consulting and assessment practice focused on customer service and information technology organizational health.

He has served as vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Under his leadership the information technology organization was recognized by EDUCAUSE for Excellence in Campus Networking; was named Yahoo Internet Life Magazine's 10th Most Wired Campus; and achieved "best" internal service in the Institute's faculty satisfaction surveys.

He also held positions at BBN Software Products and M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory.
