Senior outfielder Mike Cunningham has been named to the 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association Rawlings All-American team, the first Suffolk player in a decade to receive one of college baseball’s top honors, and he joins two teammates in 2013 All-Region honors from the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association.

Cunningham and junior first-baseman Jake Cintolo were named to the region’s first team, while senior outfielder Chris Stanley was a third-team selection.

The 2013 Rams baseball season has brought several additional honors for Cunningham, who was honored as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year and named to the GNAC’s first All-Conference team and All-Tournament team. He also was a second team selection to the NCAA Division-III team as an outfielder.

The senior slugger finished the year batting .430 (61-for-142) with 10 home runs and 44 runs batted in. As of the latest NCAA statistical rankings on May 12, Cunningham was the leading home run hitter in the region and the eighth highest total in the country. His .517 on-base percentage was number two in the region and 19th overall, while his .725 slugging percentage placed him third and 14th respectively on the leaderboards.

Jake Cintolo

Cintolo was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors Association for the 2013 season. He maintains a 3.46 cumulative grade-point average as a Marketing major in Suffolk’s Sawyer Business School.

Cintolo was one of eleven NCAA Division-III players in the New England Region honored for combined excellence academically and athletically with a first team District 1 recognition. He was the lone player this year to be named from the GNAC and first Suffolk University player recognized since the 2009 season.

Cintolo is the third player in Suffolk University program history to record 200 career hits. He has recorded at least 60 hits in a season in each of his first three years here, bringing his career total to 206. During the 2013 campaign he hit at a .398 average (68-for-171), with a team-high 44 runs scored while driving in 37 runs on 20 extra base hits. Cintolo also set the all-time Suffolk single-season record with 18 doubles on the season, a mark that currently ranks him second in New England and 20th among players nationally. He holds the GNAC and Suffolk career records for doubles with 51. This summer Cintolo will travel to Virginia to play in the Valley Baseball League for the Winchester Royals an NCAA affiliated summer collegiate league.
Both Cintolo and Cunningham were also first-team All-Conference selections by the GNAC.

Chris Stanley

Stanley finished the season with a team-high 45 runs batted in, the sixth highest total currently in New England. He rounded out the year with a .350 batting average (56-for-160), scoring 37 runs with 15 extra base hits (11 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR). He finishes a four-year career that places him ninth all-time in Suffolk program history with 185 career hits as he started 151 games in the span, the second most of any player. Stanley hit safely in 28 of 43 games this season as he recorded multiple hits in 16 of those contests. Stanley was also tabbed as a second-team All-Conference honoree by the GNAC, while also earning selection on the conference’s All-Sportsmanship team.

Suffolk finished the season with a 29-14 overall mark.
