Softball Star Named to Northeast All-Region Team

Her phenomenal hitting helped win Erin McAndrews honors as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Northeast Region first team selection.

Erin McAndrews was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Northeast All-Region first team selection for the 2013 season.

She becomes the first Rams softball player since 2009 to earn honors as one of the top players in the region. McAndrews, a junior, made the first team as an at-large selection, as she spent most of the season switching between the catcher and shortstop positions for the Rams.

Earlier this spring, McAndrews was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) 2013 Player of the Year.

McAndrews posted big offensive numbers in 2013 as she finished the year batting .479 (56-for-117) in 37 games played. She led the GNAC with in batting average, triples (6), runs batted in (42) and slugging percentage (.838). She also was named a GNAC first team All-Conference selection.

Suffolk finished the 2013 season with a 16-25 record and advanced from number eight seed in the GNAC Tournament to the championship game. McAndrews, who went 7-for-17 in six playoff games, earned All-Tournament team honors for the Rams.
