Student Illustration Exhibit

Emphasis is on dramatic visual storytelling

A juried illustration exhibition featuring the best work produced by sophomore, junior, and senior students is on display from March 22 through April 5 at the Suffolk University Gallery, 75 Arlington St., second floor.

An opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31.

The study of illustration emphasizes dramatic visual storytelling through careful plot analysis, character development, and theatrical staging. Illustrators focus on the use of surprising visual metaphor and iconography to communicate abstract ideas. Successful illustration is achieved through deliberative consideration and development of idea and composition, and significantly, the development of strong representational drawing and painting skills.

This is the third New England School of Art & Design Annual Illustration Show and includes students majoring and minoring in illustration.
