From Genetics to Nanoscience

Over 120 Suffolk alumni, faculty and students gathered at the Annual STEM (Science - Technology - Engineering - Mathematics) Reception on Sunday, April 22.

Guests – including President James McCarthy and Dean Kenneth Greenberg – perused posters and projects from all of Suffolk’s scientific disciplines. Among the intriguing topics on display were an Alternative Energy Interactive Panorama from Environmental Engineering, a poster on the Co-Evolution of Friendship and Publishing in Blogging Social Networks from Computer Science, and the Micromouse maze from Electrical Engineering.

Attendees were also treated to talks from CAS faculty and the keynote speaker, alumna Georgia Beyersdorfer, BSE '02, Marketing Manager at Phoenix Electric.

Engineering department chair Lisa Shatz summed up this successful event:

“It was wonderful to catch up with our alumni – seeing what incredible work they’re doing in their fields is inspirational for our current students, and it’s great for our alums to see the exciting progress our undergrads are making”
