Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com, will speak at the Sawyer Business School’s 2012 Graduate Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 19, at the Westin Hotel.

Recognized as an innovator and visionary in both the Internet and career industries, Jeff Taylor reinvented the way job hunters seek employment. His "monster idea" quickly became one of the first dot-com companies. It has since become the world's leading online career site. Today, the Monster global network consists of local content and language sites in more than 50 countries and serves more than 30 million unique visitors monthly.

Taylor is also the founder of a baby boomer incubator that spawned four companies: eons.com, Eons BOOM Media (EBM), Meetcha.com, and Tributes.com. Eons.com was the first and largest social network for boomers. Eons.com, EBM, and Meetcha.com were all sold in Q2-2011. Tributes.com is the destination for national and local obituary news, with nearly 90 million obituaries and partnerships with thousands of funeral homes.

Student Speaker

Kathryn Gabriele, who will receive her Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, will deliver student remarks.

With a background in public education, Gabriele entered the MPA program to learn more about public policy so she could take on a management role. Her goal has already been achieved. Just two days after graduation, Gabriele is starting a new job as a policy analyst for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

She is appreciative of the support she’s received from her professors at Suffolk. “My most memorable experiences have all centered on having some incredible faculty, and therefore, some very meaningful classes, which have been very helpful in taking that next step,” she said.

As a program and research assistant at the Moakley Center for Public Management and student representative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration (Mass ASPA), Gabriele has made lasting connections at Suffolk. After graduation, she plans to remain an active member of the Business School’s community. She wants to become involved with the MPA Mentoring Program and aspires to eventually become an adjunct faculty member.
