Sawyer Business School senior Jenna McGrail recently received a prestigious scholarship from the Boston Chapter of the international honor society Beta Gamma Sigma. The $1,000 award recognizes business students who embody three key qualities: honor, wisdom, and earnestness.

McGrail, who is majoring in marketing with a minor in E-commerce, is very active in the Suffolk Community. She serves as one of 10 Sawyer Ambassadors, where she helps build the undergraduate community and create programs that support students. The ambassadors also represent the Sawyer Business School at campus activities and special events. “Being a representative of the student body empowers us to help make changes that support unmet student needs,” McGrail said.

As vice president of the Professional Marketing Association (PMA), McGrail helps coordinate informative events and networking opportunities for students interested in marketing. "Being involved has allowed me to get to know fellow students who have the same academic and professional interests as myself. It also encourages my learning outside of the classroom,” she said.

McGrail also serves on the Honor Scholar Event Planning Committee and participates in the Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Club and hip hop dance crew Wicked!

Last year, McGrail completed a three-month sales internship at ACCO Brands, an office supplies company. As an intern, McGrail performed administrative tasks, helped the sales team develop a virtual trade booth and execute sales relations with potential buyers, assisted in designing and assembling in-store displays, and shadowed regular meetings with buyers.

She is currently interning at a fast-paced technology start-up called OpenMobile, where she works with the marketing team. She gathers market data and analyzes trends in the connected device industry. She also works on the company’s print and digital marketing collateral for potential customers; maintains the company website, blog, and social media outlets; and creates graphics and imagery for collateral and tradeshow booths.
