Celebrating Entrepreneurship Month with Competitions

Are you creative, ambitious, and up for a challenge?

Then sign up for a contest with the Sawyer Business School’s Center for Entrepreneurship. The Center is hosting the Bootstrap Competition, Twitch Competition, and Hawk Challenge in celebration of Entrepreneurship Month in November.

Entrepreneurship Month, or E-month, is celebrated nationwide each November to support entrepreneurial successes and innovation.

Last year, more than 100 Business School students and 10 College of Arts & Sciences students participated in events, and next month, the Center for Entrepreneurship hopes to see an even larger turn-out.

During the Bootstrap Competition, teams of one to two students will have two weeks to raise money for the Greater Boston Food Bank in a creative and ethical way. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012.

For the Twitch Competition, students have one minute to pitch a product on Twitter. Students will have four days to develop their tweet beforehand. The top-three pitches will be awarded based on their creativity; number of characters; and use of hashtags, links, and capital letters. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012.

For the Hawk Challenge, teams of two to four students will put their innovation, teamwork, presentation, and preparation skills to the test by constructing a paper airplane. Teams will be judged based on creativity, presentation, and plane performance. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012.

E-month will also feature the second annual entrepreneurship awards at the Fall E-vent, on November 16. The awards will recognize current Entrepreneurship students, staff, and alumni. Winners from some of the E-month competitions will also be announced at the ceremony.
