Student Represents Suffolk in Vietnam

Tai Le had such a rewarding experience at Sawyer Business School that he wanted to share it with students around the world.

A senior international student from Vietnam, Le recently volunteered to be a representative at VietAbroader, a college fair in his home country, to encourage prospective college students to study at Suffolk University.

VietAbroader is a student-run organization that provides training, guidance, and information to Vietnamese students interested in attending school in the United States. The conference offers information on more than 100 U.S. schools and scholarship programs.

Le set up a Suffolk University booth at the annual conference in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where he answered questions from about 50 high school students and their parents. He also passed out informative brochures and shared his personal experiences.

“I went to the event, and it was really fun,” Le said. “I really liked doing this because I was introducing my school to people back in my home country, which I thought was a really nice thing to do, not only for me, but also for Suffolk and for Vietnam.”

Le advocates for Suffolk largely because it caters to international students. Suffolk’s diverse student body and small classes provide a welcoming and supportive environment to learn a new language and culture, he said.

“If you are just learning English, I think Suffolk is a good idea for you because Suffolk offers small classes where you can build good relationships with your classmates and with your professors.”

Suffolk also has a dynamic urban campus and is very close to the financial district and leading marketing firms, which Le described as very appealing to him. “I love the city, and Suffolk is right at the center of downtown Boston,” Le said.

The Business School’s global focus was another key feature because Le enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures.

He also stressed the importance of getting involved on campus. “We also have a lot of organizations and clubs for students here,” he said. “I joined many groups. It was a really good experience because you get to know people, and you not only learn about your friends, but also about the country, the school, and yourself.”

Le expects to graduate this December with a degree in Marketing. He plans to stay in the United States, hopefully, gaining a position that allows him to travel internationally.
