Interior Architecture Ranked Top 10 in US

DesignIntelligence magazine ranks Suffolk University's Interior Architecture graduate program in the top 10 nationwide for the third straight year

DesignIntelligence magazine ranked the Interior Architecture graduate program at Suffolk University number six in the nation on its America’s Best Architecture & Design School 2013 list.

It is the third year in a row that Suffolk’s program has been named one of the “Top 10” best at preparing graduates for success in the interior design profession.

“We are proud to have once again been recognized as one of the ‘Top 10’ programs in the nation,” said Bill Davis, chair of the University’s art and design school. “We have an outstanding student body, faculty and curriculum. The employability rating of our graduates, even during challenging economic times, is also impressive.”

Suffolk’s interior architecture program gives students the knowledge and skills to use their passion for design to transform and enhance residential, professional and public spaces. They gain an awareness of environmental issues such as sustainability and “green” design while acquiring all aspects of design, including theory, communication skills, computer and software, and professional practices.

Students have received many top national awards including the Donghia Foundation Scholarship, IES Lighting Design Competition, the ASID Student Competition, and the IIDA New England Student Awards. Most recently, students from the program took home the prize for “best design school entry” in the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) of New England’s annual Fashion Show.

Design Intelligence, a trade magazine for the design industry, conducted its 14th annual survey in mid-2012. Professional practice leaders are surveyed about which schools are best preparing students for successful careers in the design professions. A total of 392 professional practice organizations participated in the research for the 2013 rankings.
