Soccer Teams Triumph in Class and on Field

Rams men and women win National Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards for the 2011-12 season

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America recognized Suffolk University Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs with its Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 season.

Suffolk was the lone member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to be recognized on both the Men’s and Women’s side and one of ten schools in the New England region to earn recognition in each.

The women’s soccer team sported a team grade-point average of 3.27. This is the fourth time that the program has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for academic success since it became a varsity sport in fall 2007. It was one of five GNAC teams to garner the team award.

The Suffolk men’s soccer team posted a 3.15 cumulative grade point average as a team. It was one of two GNAC schools to be recognized by the NSCAA.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom in addition to their work on the pitch. A total of 726 college soccer teams (222 men, 504 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year
