The Theatre Department will close the spring semester with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s hit Broadway musical Into the Woods.

Once upon a time, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack, Rapunzel, some princes, a witch, a baker and his wife went into the woods in search of their hearts’ desires. They all lived happily ever after…for a time. Marilyn Plotkins and a stellar student cast explore what adventures come after the story is over in this fun and moving musical.

“Into the Woods is a musical about the journeys we take to have our wishes come true and the forces of destruction we encounter along the way,” says the show’s director, Marilyn Plotkins. “It's also about how we survive devastating losses. Originally written in 1987 in response to the AIDS crisis, Into the Woods has never been more timely -- it's no wonder that there are simultaneous productions at Emerson and Harvard the weekend of our production.”

Into the Woods runs April 22-25, 2010, Thursday- Saturday at 8:00PM, Saturday & Sunday at 2:00PM in the C. Walsh Theatre. Tickets are $10 and $5 for students, seniors and Suffolk community.
