Law Professor Discusses Federal Appellate Court Appointment

Law Professor Michael Avery discussed President Barack Obama's nomination of Goodwin Liu to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a CNN interview.

Avery said that Liu has a sophisticated view of the law.

Liu contends that judges are tied to the Constitution yet recognize that they have to engage in some interpretation of vague constitutional terms, according to Avery.

While this doesn't sit well with some conservatives, Avery pointed out that "very significant legal conservatives are supporting this nomination."
