Hallmark Health names new Board of Trustees chair

Donna West, BSBA '91 -- Hallmark Health System, which includes Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, is pleased to announce that Donna West has been named chairperson of the organization’s Board of Trustees.

“I am deeply honored to be the new chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Hallmark Health, which has a strong legacy of social and public responsibility to the health and safety of the people we serve in communities North of Boston,” West said. “I look forward to working with my fellow board members and Hallmark Health executives and physician leaders as we continue to advance our reputation as the local health system of excellence, and preference, for patient quality and safety, patient satisfaction and leading-edge medical care.”

A resident of Lexington, West is longtime supporter of Hallmark Health and has served as both a trustee and a corporator. She recently retired from MASSBANK after 30 years with the company. MASSBANK, which was acquired by Eastern Bank, was a publicly owned community bank headquartered in Reading with approximately $1 billion in assets in 15 banking offices. West held many positions during her career at MASSBANK, most recently serving as chief operating officer.

Prior to working at MASSBANK, West worked at Stoneham Savings Bank and the former Malden Savings Bank. She graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in finance.

West is also involved in many community and volunteer activities including current member/past president of the Melrose Rotary Club, advisory board member of the Money Management Program at Mystic Valley Elder Services and treasurer of the Hydrocephalus Foundation. During her professional career, West also served as a member and past chairman of the Retail Banking Committee at the Massachusetts Banking Association. Medford Transcript, May 11, 2010
