The Rappaport Center for Law and Public Service at Suffolk University Law School will present a roundtable discussion on Casino Gambling: What are the Licensing and Regulatory Challenges? from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2011.

Massachusetts is advancing legislation to legalize casino gambling. If this legislation is adopted, the debate will turn to allocation of licenses and regulation of the industry.

The first in this year’s series of Rappaport Roundtable discussions will consider what Massachusetts can learn from other states and countries about the major challenges in licensing and regulating casino gambling. It will ask what the objectives of regulation should be and how these can best be realized.

The key speaker will be William Eadington, the Philip G. Satre Chair in Gaming Studies and director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Bruce Mohl, editor of CommonWealth Magazine, will serve as commentator.

The Rappaport Roundtable discussions are sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
