Distinguished Scholar: A Profile of Excellence

Suffolk University Distinguished Scholar in Residence Robert Brustein, a recent National Medal of Arts recipient, was profiled in the Sept. 11 Boston Sunday Globe Fall Arts Preview.

Globe theater critic Don Aucoin referred to Brustein as “one of the nation’s most influential drama critics and essayists” in the article discussing Brustein’s fascination with Shakespeare.

In a video on BostonGlobe.com, Brustein discusses his play “Mortal Terror,” the second in a trilogy of plays about the life and work of the Bard. The play premiered at the University’s Modern Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 15 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 2.

Aucoin called the play “a compound of historical events and Brustein’s imagination.”

“Mortal Terror” is co-produced by Suffolk University and the Boston Playwrights’ Theatre.
