Magid Mazen on WGBH “Greater Boston”

Sawyer Business School Professor Magid Mazen shared his recollections of 9/11 on WGBH’s “Greater Boston” show with host Emily Rooney.

Mazen recalled that after learning of the attacks he did not think of himself as a Muslim-American hearing the news but as an “American citizen who lives here taking the news.”

He told of receiving a call two days after 9/11 from the late Sen. Ted Kennedy who assured Mazen that he knew “This is not Islam. I want you to tell people that.”

Mazen said he spoke to groups about Islam and the Arab world to try to bridge the gaps.

Joining Mazen on the segment was Noelia Rodriguez, former press secretary to First Lady Laura Bush, and Professor Andrew Bacevich of Boston University.
