Robyn Hegerich had completed her second year at Georgetown University Law School 10 years ago, but then her life completely changed.

She sustained major injuries in a serious car accident and required extensive surgery and rehabilitation.

“It took me about a year to be able to fully walk and fully use my arms again,” she said.

Hegerich was married in 2004, and she and her husband have two sons. She was a stay-at-home mom for a few years before returning to the workplace in 2007.

However, she still had regrets that she had never received her law degree, so she enrolled at Suffolk Law School as an evening student in 2008.

Hegerich was a member of the Suffolk University Law Review and received her juris doctor degree, summa cum laude, in May.

“The education I received has been unbelievable,” she said. “They really teach you the practical skills. You gain more lawyering skills here than you would at other law schools.”

Hegerich is employed at the law firm of Murphy, Hesse, Toomey, and Lehane. She plans to take the bar exam in July and aims to work as a litigator.
