The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents Intended Consequences: Rwandan Children Born of Rape, an Aperture traveling exhibit that examines the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide through photographs and interviews by photojournalist Jonathan Torgovnik.

More than 800,000 people were slain during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, and thousands of Tutsi women were violated. The rapes left a legacy of HIV/AIDS among the surviving women, and many of them became pregnant. Some of these women dearly love their children. For others the children are a daily reminder of the horrors they endured.

Torgovnik presents portraits of these families and shares their stories through heart-rending interviews with the mothers. The exhibit runs from July 23 to October 23, 2011, at the Adams Gallery, 120 Tremont St., Boston.
