Peter Jeffreys, assistant professor of English, has published his translation of C.P. Cavafy's Selected Prose Works (University of Michigan Press). It is the first English translation of Cavafy's prose writings ever published and appears in the series Writers on Writing, edited by Jay Parini.

C. P. Cavafy (1863-1933) is arguably the most widely read modern Greek poet. This volume presents forty texts--both published and unpublished during the poet's lifetime--including some originally written in English. Selections include essays, book reviews, a short story, prose poems, self-assessments, reflections on art, and critical considerations of other poets, including Shakespeare, Keats, Browning, and Tennyson.
