WikiLeaks, OpenLeaks, and Our Right to Know

Herbert Snorrason cannot enter the United States for fear of arraignment, so the former WikiLeaks staffer will join the Ford Hall Forum live by video from Iceland and Germany to answer questions about the necessity of and danger in leaking state secrets.

The special Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University breakfast event will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, in the Moot Court Room at Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont St., Boston.

Snorrason is the founder, with Daniel Domscheit-Berg, of the newly launched OpenLeaks, will discuss balancing the public’s right to know with global security.

Wendy Ballinger, treasurer and former executive director of the Ford Hall Forum, will talk with him about how and why he became involved with WikiLeaks and why the new model takes a different tack than WikiLeaks and other “Leaks” sites launching around the world.

The Ford Hall Forum is the nation’s oldest free public lecture series. It promotes freedom of speech and fosters an informed and effective citizenry through events that illuminate the key issues facing our society.
