Theater student Elissa Newcorn has taken a year’s leave from her studies to take a children’s theater production on the road.
She is part of the cast of MY LITTLE PONY LIVE! “The World’s Biggest Tea Party,” a national touring production of the Vee Corporation, which also creates shows such as “Sesame Street Live.”
Newcorn, 19, an honors student at Suffolk, plays the role of the pony Sweetberry. As part of the cast, she will visit about 40 cities throughout the United States and Canada.
“It’s a life-learning experience and a lot of fun,” said the youngest member of the 15-person cast assembled from across the country. “It can get stressful at times with long hours, but when you love what you do, you don’t really mind it.”
“Elissa is a bright, resourceful and gifted student who is extremely well liked by her peers,” said Suffolk Theatre Department Chair Marilyn Plotkins. “She is also as conscientious and hard working as any student I have known. I miss her a lot and look forward to her return to Suffolk.”
