Seniors seeking to shape up can now get fit with the new 30-minute career workshops through Suffolk’s Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education.

Starting Wednesday, February 28, undergraduate seniors will have the opportunity to attend career seminars. Lasting just 30 minutes each, students are able to get a quick run-down on the information they need as they begin their job hunt before graduating. Workshops will take place from 2-2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoons in the Co-op and Career Services new Workshop Wing at 20 Ashburton Place, 1st Floor.

These in-and-out seminars cover a wide variety of topics including:

Wednesday- March 7	Effective Resumes
Wednesday- March 21	How to succeed at a job fair
Wednesday- March 28	Effective Letters- cover, thank you, etc.
Wednesday- April 4	Interviewing and Personal Presentation

Wednesday- April 18	Job strategies and Resources

In an effort to meet the demands of seniors’ busy schedules, Betsy McDowell, Associate Director, Career Services created the “30-Minute Seminar for Seniors.” This new 30-minute format allows seniors to quickly and easily gain the information they need without making a significant time commitment. McDowell also thought having the seminars on a set day and time, 2 p.m. Wednesdays, would be easier for students to remember than past events which took place at different times each week. Students should take advantage of these short and sweet seminars to better prepare for their future.

 

The Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education at Suffolk University assists students and alumni of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Sawyer School of Management in defining and realizing their career goals.
