The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court's Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services is exploring the role of legal education in addressing the unmet need for legal services and will meet at the Law School to explore the issue.

The SJC committee, established in 1999, has worked to promote volunteer legal work in Massachusetts in order to help people of limited means who need of legal representation, as envisioned by SJC Rule 6.1 of the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct.

Suffolk University Law School will host the meeting.

Faculty, administrators, and students involved in the Law School's public interest and pro bono activities will make presentations at the Sept. 26 meeting.

A discussion of how law schools and legal education can help prepare lawyers to fulfill their pro bono and public service obligations effectively will follow.
