Volleyball Wins First Match of Season

BOSTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Kelsey Armstrong (Corvallis, Ore.) notched eight kills and four digs to lead Suffolk to its first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, a 3-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference triumph over Albertus Magnus by scores of 30-14, 30-15, 30-32 and 30-11 at Regan Gymnasium.

Armstrong finished with 10 kills and 12 digs as part of a tri-match for the host Rams (1-8, 1-4 Great Northeast), who dropped a 3-0 Great Northeast decision to Rivier in the second contest of the day by scores of 30-11, 30-19, 30-12).

Sophomore Amanda Marcotte (Middleboro, Mass.) added 11 kills and 15 digs in the two outings for Suffolk, including seven kills and 10 digs in the win over Albertus Magnus, while fellow sophomore Aly Brain (Hanson, Mass.) added five kills and two service aces in the win for the Rams.

Freshman Julie Sullivan (Haverhill, Mass.) recorded 33 set assists on the day for Suffolk, which returns to action on Sunday afternoon when the Rams head to Standish, Maine to take on Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in a Great Northeast outing that begins at 2:00 p.m.
