Rivier Beats Women's Soccer 1-0

SOMERVILLE, Mass.-- Sophomore Kathleen Moran’s (Pembroke, N.H.) goal in the 39th minute of play held up as the game-winner and lifted Rivier to a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Suffolk Wednesday evening at Dilboy Stadium.

Moran lofted a shot from 20 yards out from the right side to give the visiting Raiders (2-6, 1-4 Great Northeast) the only marker they would need, and sophomore Brittany Puleo (Hudson, N.H.) made that stand up in goal by making a pair of saves to record the shutout triumph for Rivier.

Sophomore Meghan McDonald (Easton, Mass.) made a career-high eight saves in goal in the setback for the host Rams (0-6, 0-6 Great Northeast) as the Raiders outshot Suffolk by a 17-11 margin for the contest.

Both teams will head to Standish, Maine for their next respective Great Northeast outings against Saint Joseph’s (Maine), as Suffolk will face the Monks next Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. after Rivier squares off with Saint Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
