Letisha Brown, a management student in the University's Sawyer Business School, has been selected for the Future Diversity Leaders program launched this summer by KPMG LLP, an audit, tax, and advisory firm. 

Brown is one of 50 students from across the nation chosen to participate in the program, which is designed to provide leadership training and financial support for outstanding minority undergraduate business students.

Brown, 19, of Medford, was nominated for the Future Diversity Leaders program as a result of her commitment to high academic achievement, community and campus involvement, and active participation in diversity organizations.

“This is a wonderful opportunity, and I see a world of doors opening up for me,”said Brown, a sophomore. “After graduating from Suffolk, I definitely want to do something in the business field, maybe marketing. Being part of this internship program at KPMG will teach me the first steps I need to know about the business profession that I hope to be part of one day.”

KPMG initiated the program as part of its continuing effort to increase and support minority representation in the accounting profession.

Campus involvement 
Brown is a member of the Business School's Griffin Honor Society. She also sings with the Vocal Ensemble, a student performing group and has been involved in Caribbean Student Network activities.

Successful completion of an internship at KPMG in Boston next summer will make Brown eligible for additional scholarship money and another internship the following summer. The second internship would offer hands-on experience with clients in Brown's chosen business area. In addition to gaining work experience, Brown will be mentored by faculty advisers and KPMG professionals.
