Women's Tennis Finishes Perfect 12-0 In Regular Season

BOSTON, Mass.-- The Suffolk women’s tennis team closed out an undefeated regular season slate in dual-match play by notching a 9-0 non-league victory over UMass Boston Tuesday afternoon on the Boston College High School Courts. 

Senior Jen Nelson (Newburyport, Mass.), junior Kellie Sturma (Newman, Ga.) and sophomore Thuy Le (Woburn, Mass.) and freshman Rachael Troia (North Providence, R.I.) each notched wins in both singles and doubles play for the visiting Rams, who finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 mark. Nelson and Sturma teamed up for an 8-2 win at number one doubles for Suffolk, while Le and Troia notched an 8-4 triumph at the number two doubles spot for the visitors.

Sophomores Kaitlynn Cates (Middlebury, Conn.) and Catarina Rosa (Fall River, Mass.) also posted straight set singles wins for the Rams on the afternoon, while the tandem of senior Jenna Pecoraro (Chester, Conn.) and freshman Katelyn Paquette (Southbury, Conn.) closed out the sweep for Suffolk by posting an 8-4 win at the number three doubles spot.

The host Beacons fall to 2-8 overall with the setback.

Suffolk will head to Western Massachusetts this weekend to participate in the New England Championships at Amherst, Mount Holyoke and Smith, while UMass Boston will compete in the Little East Conference Championships this weekend in Providence, R.I.
