BOSTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Jeremy Shannon (Lowell, Mass.) recorded a near triple-double with 25 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds to lead six players in double figures as Emerson extended its winning streak to four straight with a 108-89 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s basketball victory over Suffolk Thursday evening at Regan Gymnasium.

The visiting Lions (13-1, 6-1 Great Northeast) blistered the nets at a 65 percent clip for the contest in racing out to an 11-point lead (24-13) midway through the opening 20 minutes of play before extending that margin to 20 points (56-36) at the break. Emerson, which connected for nine of its 10 three pointers in the first half, maintained its double digit edge after intermission, as the Lions extended their advantage to as many as 27 points in the closing nine minutes after hitting 31 of their first 42 shots of the evening.

Senior Ben Chase (Newburyport, Mass.) added 21 points and seven rebounds for the winners, who also received 14 points each from seniors Will Dawkins (Springfield, Mass.) and Samuel Newman-Beck (West Medford, Mass.). Senior Joe Boylan (Royal Oak, Mich.) chipped in with 13 points for Emerson, which also received 10 points from junior Anthony Remias (Cranberry Township, Pa.) as the Lions shot 53 percent from behind the arc and held a 24-18 scoring edge at the foul line while converting 28 turnovers into 36 points.

Freshman Allan Ray (Lynn, Mass.) netted a career-high 21 points in the setback for the host Rams (2-14, 1-8 Great Northeast), who also received 13 points each from sophomores Alan Jaziri (Norwich, Conn.) and Joseph Ransom (Sheffield, England). Freshman Samuel Alexanian (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points for the hosts, as Suffolk shot 50 percent from the field and canned seven three-pointers while holding a 37-30 rebounding edge for the contest.

Suffolk hosts Norwich in a Great Northeast outing on Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium beginning at 3:00 p.m., while Emerson heads across town on Saturday afternoon to take on Emmanuel in a Great Northeast match-up at the Jean Yawkey Center that tips-off at 1:00 p.m.
