Small Named to All-District Academic Team

Earlier this month Men's Basketball captain, senior forward Brian Small (Stoughton, MA) was named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A first team selection for the 2008-09 season, Brian has now earned this award three times in his career. Brian currently maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 as a Finance major in Suffolk's Sawyer School of Management. In six of his seven semesters, Brian has achieved a perfect GPA of 4.0, including last semester in the Fall of 2008.

This season Brian currently leads the Rams with a 17.7 points per game average and 8.9 rebounds per game, assists at 2.4 and field goal percentage .498. Brian's 336 point total this season now gives him a career total of 1,355 for 10th all time in program history.

Small was named GNAC Player of the Week this season on February 1st, and has been named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll on four other occasions. He currently stands in the top ten in several categories within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference; 4th in scoring, 3rd in rebounding, 7th in field goal percentage, 9th in assists and 5th with 1.4 blocked shots per game.

Small has also been a part of Suffolk's "Skills and Drills" program for the past four seasons in conjunction with the Boston Public Schools system while under Head Coach Adam Nelson.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) selects Academic All America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at large and women's at large.
