The Suffolk University Gallery presents Situating Movement: Anne Lilly/New Work, Oct. 14 – Nov. 27, as part of the gallery’s 2016 Fall Art + Science + Design series.
As a kinetic sculptor, Lilly uses carefully engineered motion to shift and manipulate perceptions of time, space, and energy.
"Anne Lilly’s captivating stainless steel sculptures...are so intricately engineered they appear to do magic,” according to Boston Globe reviewer Cate McQuaid.
Lilly’s ordered and precisely constructed interactive sculptures move in strikingly organic, fluid, and mesmeric ways. Employing opposing modalities —analytical and intuitive, rational and emotional — her sculptures elicit new connections between the physical space outside and one’s private, psychological domain.
A reception with the artist will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.
