C-Span’s Civics Bus Stops at Law School

The C-Span Civics Bus, a mobile production studio traveling to schools and communities nationwide, pulled up to the Law School on Sept. 9 to explore the changes to be expected as new Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor settles in to her new duties.

Professor Robert Smith was in front of the cameras discussing how the Court must adjust to Sotomayor and how the new justice also will be transformed.Smith, who served as dean of the Law School from 1999 to 2007, teaches Constitutional Law, Mediation, Supreme Court Seminar, and Clinical Teaching. Among his professional affiliations is the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

C-Span partnered with Comcast for the session at the Law School.

C-Span’s two Civics Buses have visited students, teachers, and citizens in all 50 states since the program began in 1993.
