“Stand Up for Pink!”

More than 200 members of the Suffolk University community donned pink T-shirts and assembled in the shape of a ribbon to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The ribbon was formed at center court of the Regan Gymnasium on the Suffolk campus.

The special “Stand Up for Pink!” gathering is one of a number of October events, informational sessions, and promotional efforts planned to educate the campus community about breast cancer.

“Suffolk has supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month for many years,” said Norine Bacigalupo, a professor in the Communication and Journalism Department and a breast cancer survivor. “It’s wonderful to see people throughout the University become involved in this good cause. Everyone should feel proud of their contributions to get the message out there in promoting early detection and full recovery for all.”

Suffolk student-athletes are again getting into the pink spirit by wearing specially designed wristbands during 2009-10 athletic contests, beginning in October. The wristbands are decorated with the pink Breast Cancer ribbon logo and the words “Suffolk University Supports Breast Cancer Prevention.”
