Conference Recognizes Outstanding Soccer, Cross-Country & Tennis Performances

Rams honored in Player, Goalkeeper, and Rookie of the Week categories

Suffolk student-athletes Kirsten Weiker, Alberto Bittan, Aidiana Sagyndykova, and Emily Manfra were recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their outstanding performances in soccer, tennis, and cross-country last week.

  • Bittan, a senior from Venezuela, was named Co-GNAC Corvias Player of the Week due to his three-goal effort to help Suffolk win back-to-back games. During a Columbus Day encounter against Emmanuel, Bittan netted the game-winner two minutes into overtime to propel the Rams to a 1-0 victory. He then scored two goals in a 5-4 win over Anna Maria in the second annual Rams Fan Fest on Saturday. More
  • Weiker was named the GNAC Corvias Goalie of the Week, thanks to making a total of 18 saves and giving up only one goal in two Suffolk wins. The talented sophomore opened the week with a 10-save effort in a Rams’ 2-1 triumph over Emmanuel on Columbus Day, followed by turning away eight shots during a 5-0 victory against Mount Ida.
  • Sagyndykova was named GNAC Corvias Player of the Week for putting together an unbeaten singles and doubles record in the final regular-season week of play. On Senior Night against Saint Joseph (Conn.), she and Valentina Medina teamed up for an 8-1 win as Suffolk’s top tandem. Sagyndykova followed that up with a 6-4, 6-0 singles triumph as the Rams’ ace. Manfra was just 22 seconds behind the first-place finisher at the Saints Invitational at Franklin Park on Oct. 14, crossing the tape in 19:55 to claim second in a field of 167 runners. The time is the best of her collegiate career thus far and the second sub-20 5K this season. Manfra swept the weekly awards on Sept. 26, and was named the best rookie over a seven-day stretch on Sept. 12. More
