For the second year, Suffolk Arts+Sciences magazine has won two national Folio: awards—an Eddie for editorial content and an Ozzie for design.

“The Eddie and Ozzie awards recognize excellence in magazine and online editorial and design,” states Folio:, the definitive source for news, education, events and recognition in the publishing industry. “In 2009, the awards drew more than 2,000 entries. That volume reveals two things: Our awards draw, by far, the widest variety of publication types—from b-to-b to consumer to association and custom—and our industry is particularly proud of its creative output.”

JOURNEY, the second issue of Suffolk Arts+Sciences, won a Gold Eddie Award in the category of Supplemental Annual/One-Shot, Single Article, for “Teaching & Mentoring: The 1-2 Punch,” a feature article written by Suffolk history professor Lauri Umansky about alumnus Greg Hazelwood ’98, a history teacher at Brockton High School who understands the life-changing impact of a mentor, both having and being one.

This issue also won a Silver Ozzie Award for overall design excellence in the category of Best Supplemental Annual or One-Shot.

Last year, the premier issue ENCORE won a Gold Eddie Award for Supplemental Annual/One-Shot, Full Issue, and a Bronze Ozzie Award for Best Design, New Magazine, Association/Non-Profit.
